2007 Umpqua Valley Pinot Blanc
Our pinot blanc is sourced from Red Hill Vineyard which at 1300’ is the highest elevation vineyard in the Umpqua Valley. This fruit is always very rich in acid which led to the decision to barrel ferment this wine. We use all older barrels for the fermentation and aging. The idea is to get the contributions of extended lees contact without oak toast. We stir the lees which develops a creamy, yeasty complexity and contributes to a rich mouthfeel. We age the wine in barrel for one year. The wine has aromas of green apples and pineapples with toast and lemon zest. The flavors have quince and wild sage with a crème brulee texture and a tangy, cleansing acid finish. This wine would serve very well with seared scallops and pan reduced wine a butter sauce.

2009 Umpqua Valley Pinot Gris

We age this wine on its yeast lees til bottling. This contributes aromas of baking bread and toasting almonds. The bouquet is a fresh mix of pineapple and green apple with some ripe banana and an herbal note of wild sage as you might encounter on a warm morning on the trail under blue skies. The apple and banana carry the flavor towards a very full mouthfeel with a long and lingering finish with some evident heat. This is a big, full and oily example of the variety. It is bone dry, but the richness gives an off dry impression. It pairs nicely with smoked salmon for a starter. This wine has enough stuffing to accompany charcouterie or cream sauced chicken or veal dishes.

2008 Umpqua Valley Riesling

We sourced our riesling in 2008 entirely from the Bradley Vineyard in Elkton. The vintage was ideal for this late ripening variety. We were able to let the fruit hang until October 30, without danger from frost and with a minimal amount of botrytis formation. For us, a little botrytis gives more complexity in the mixture of fruit flavors. The fruit came in in perfect condition, 21.5 Brix, 8.7g/L acid and pH3.07. We cold settle the juice and ferment cool in stainless with a variety of yeasts friendly to producing expressions of pure riesling fruit. The wine was bottled off dry with 1.86 residual sugar, 8.55g/L acid and a pH 3.02. The wine is pale straw. The aromas are an enticing mix of peach, quava, nectarine and green apples with a subtle hint of fresh pine boughs. The flavors are dominated by the peaches and green apples with some lime and a cleansing minerality. The acidity is firm and the finish is long, lingering, pleasing and quite dry.

2009 Umpqua Valley Gewürztraminer
We source our gewürztraminer from the Bradley Vineyard in Elkton, which is proving to be a world class terroir for this varietal. The wine is shimmering pale golden color with hints of green around the edges. The nose is a complex blend of floral, spice and fruit characters consistent to this exotic variety. There is evident leeche, tea rose, pink grapefruit and pie spices in the aromas. The mouthfeel and textures are an intriguing blend of sweet tropical fruit with a pithy grapefruit acidity keeping the whole impression in balance. The finish is long and the mouthfeel is full and rich.
