2007 Riesling

The Bradley vineyard in Elkton was the source for our 2007 riesling.  The fruit was harvested October 26 during a dry spell of a wet season.  The grapes were very clean with very little botrytis and brought in with 22 degrees Brix, pH3.15 and with .85TA.  The juice was fermented in tanks chilled to 50 degrees F for nearly two months using a variety of yeasts.  The wine is a luminescent pale straw color with aromas of nectarine, Meyers lemon zest, fresh snap peas, wild flower honey and a steely wet slate minerality.  The nectarine carries the flavors with notes of toasted almonds, minerality and bright acidity.  The finish is moderately long and dry with a cleansing hint of sweet fruit balanced by the acid.  Recently we enjoyed this wine with oysters on the half shell and one of our dining companions, the owner of a Japanese restaurant, thought it would be excellent with her sushi.
